Meet the farmers: Ray, Merilyn, Trevor and Darren Clark

What do you grow? Wide variety! Kale, chillies, capsicums, eggplant, herbs, pineapples, limes and avos.

How long have you been supplying to Food Connect? Since 2005

What methods and philosophies do you follow? Soil building with organic mulch such as green manure crops and microbes always to never have bare soil

When, why and how did you become farmers? Grew up on the farm. And why stay a farmer? Because of a love for seeing plants starting from a tiny seed and turning into healthy, beautiful-tasting food, and having deep connection to soil and nature.

What does a typical day look like for you? There really isn't a typical day here we start at 6am every day no matter what the weather like. Could be planting seedlings, watering, ploughing, weeding, harvesting, packing, fixing pumps or machinery

Why do you choose to work with Food Connect? We get a fair price for our produce and they're easy to deal with. And they understand that not everything goes to plan.

What do you love about what you do? Knowing that I'm growing healthy food for people to enjoy.

What would you most like to see change in how consumers engage with their food?  To understand that the weather plays a major role in when produce is a accessible, and the quality. That not all produce is available to get all year round.
