Last night, Food Connect won the inaugural ISPT Outstanding Social Enterprise Award at the Brisbane City Council’s Lord Mayor’s Business Awards!
Along with four other finalists, Smarter Stronger Institute, Juiced TV, World’s Biggest Garage Sale & LeapIn, we are so proud and humbled to be recognised because of our commitment to doing business differently.
Those who have supported us and worked with us over the last 15 years know how difficult this road has been. This award is for you!
It’s been such a hard slog sticking to a principles-based business which has seen us go through some very dark times. And it’s still not easy to do well and attract customers over all the greenwashing and marketing campaigns. In fact, it’s our farmers who have stuck with us and believed in our vision to democratise the food system, along with a small group of loyal customers.
Business really can be about relationships and sharing the risk and collaborating for good. Social enterprises clearly demonstrate that doing well in business and creating social, cultural and environmental impact are inherently linked. Hopefully this means that future generations will have some chance of thriving in a climate emergency.
