If you haven’t yet tried the incredible Middle Eastern Fruit Loaf that Levain Bakery bakes locally for us, do yourself a favour and add one to your order this week! Made with sourdough cultures and bursting with whole dates and figs, it’s perfect simply toasted with lashings of butter, or taken to the next level as french toast!
4 thick slices middle eastern fruit loaf
¼ cup milk
Pinch salt & cracked black pepper
2 tablespoons butter
In a wide, shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and a good pinch of salt and pepper.
Soak sliced bread in egg mixture for a minute each side, then fry over medium-high heat, in lots of butter, for about 3 minutes, flip, and continue frying for a further 3 minutes, or until crispy and very golden.
Serve hot with natural yoghurt, a drizzle of honey, a big squeeze of lemon or lime, and lots of seasonal fruit. Enjoy!!
