Join the team: Warehouse Champion / Driver

We're looking for an energetic all-rounder to join the team as a Warehouse Championand Delivery Driver. It's a varied role working in our two most crucial teams, both in our bustling warehouse and on the road - never a dull day!

You'll be as hands-on as it gets in an ethical food social enterprise that seeks to challenge the status quo and create healthy food systems.

The role is permanent part-time, based in our Salisbury warehouse.

Duties include:

  • Receiving and collecting produce (includes early start on Mondays)
  • Preparing the packing line
  • Pack (curate) produce boxes and groceries that meet Food Connect standards, mindful of presentation and practical necessities of produce placement
  • Delivering fresh produce and groceries to customers in top condition.
  • Safe operation, maintenance and cleaning of Food Connect vehicles and other equipment
  • Strengthening relationships with customers, and other key supply chain contacts
  • Working with the warehouse coordinator, logistics coordinator and sales teams on produce quality control, conveying issues and concerns and remedying complaints
  • Learning and understanding all of our products and fresh produce, how they were grown/made and the people behind them.

What we're looking for (essential):

  • demonstrated experience or competence in food/fresh produce handling
  • Current Australian drivers licence
  • Willingness to obtain forklift license
  • Commitment to workplace safety
  • Ability to lift heavy items
  • Numeracy & clear communication skills
  • Ability to concentrate & respectfully work in a team
  • Basic computer skills
  • Initiative and drive to get the job done

What we'd love to see (highly desirable):

  • Knowledge of sustainable agriculture and organic production methods
  • Passion for fresh local food, eating and cooking
  • A manual drivers licence & forklift operators license
  • Good knowledge of Brisbane streets and locations
  • Understanding the role of Food Connect Brisbane's operations in furthering the goals of the local, ecological and sustainable food movement
  • Basic mechanical skills and vehicle maintenance
